EARLY HOMESTEAD

It's been a busy March...I swore I would never do another antique show..but there was I...right in the middle of all the hoopla and the throws of doing another one.   My hooking buddy, Sally Beauman asked last winter if I would be interested in sharing a booth with her at the Early Homestead Show in Holly Michigan...I've done it for years, but kind of lost my mojo...guess I'm getting old & tired...but since no one can refuse sweet little Sally...I said "YES"....and am I ever glad I did!!  We had a blast and the show was packed...I guess everyone had spring fever!  Here are a few pictures of our booth:

We were so thrilled that all of our furniture sold...meaning...we didn't have to cart any of the big stuff home!!!  I used to buy and buy and buy...never knowing where I was going to put anything once I got it home...so it ended up in the basement or the garage...I quit doing that a few years ago.

This was a watch maker's desk that I had purchased a few years ago (it had taken residence in my creepy basement)...I was so happy that Sally bought it...she's using it as an island in her kitchen...I think it is just perfect!!

These were some little garden signs I stenciled on old shutter slats &  some flower bags I made out of an old feedsack...

I designed and stitched tops for the little trinket boxes that I have had sitting in my stash of "possibilities" for the past years...sadly, I have a lot of "possibility stash" in my closet...I used 40 count linen...YIKES!!!  With the help of magnifying reading glasses and a very bright light...and actually, other than looking like someone from outer space & scaring the heck out of my husband...  it really wasn't that difficult to stitch on...

I think the most fun part of doing or going to a show, besides the making money part....is seeing your friends and aquaintances.  It's nice being able to recognize faces from the past and having time to chat a bit.  Needless to say...Sally and I are already planning for the September show.....

Have a great week and come on Spring....we're tired of waiting for you!!
