A NEW STITCHY GROUP ON FB

Well,  Lori  Brechlin has done it again...starting a new stitchy revolution!  It's stitching "free-hand" with no design, no counting X's, just stitching along till your heart's content!    It's called "The Uncounted Cross Stitch Group".....I've been stitching like this all summer....inspirations coming from some of my antique samplers and my motif books.  I've stitched nine "uncounted" samplers in the past month & than includes framing them.

The linen has been coffee dyed, baked, stitched on, then coffee dyed & baked again.  I'm using only antique frames making my designs to fit in the frame.  It's been a lot of fun and it's amazing how relaxing and quickly you can get these samplers complete! I'm only using five colors from DMC and stitching on a rather rough linen that I bought on Amazon.

So...if you are on FB, this is a fun group to join...plus Lori has done two videos on the process of this type of free-hand stitching.

I've also been doing some wool applique...I just love Rebekah L Smith's design and her process of stitching.  The design below is my own, but I adapted her idea of hanging it on an antique basket.  I have a long, cupboard runner that I will be starting next week from her new book which is awesome!

This is the basket with applique done by Rebekah...I just love it!  She has a way with colors & design!

This is the long wall runner that I will be making into a runner for my cupboard door.  I'll change the colors a bit but I love the design.  Her new book title is:

Exploring Folk Art with Wool Applique & More

You can purchase it from her website which is listed on my Blog Favorites.

That's it for now...I've got a zillion things to do and am in no mood to do them, hence why this blog post was so long!  Have a great weekend & enjoy this beautiful weather!!

  5. Hi Bobbie,
Love your sweet samplers and I also think they will find new homes very quickly!! I have stitched like that on some of my pieces and never really thought about what to call it, but Lori's definition is spot on!! I'm not on FB so do hope she will share on her YouTube channel! Always love seeing her way of doing things!! Love the applique as well!!!
    Have a great weekend!!
