DECISIONS....DECISIONS....

It's fun decorating a new space...using some of what you have and then, of course, being on the hunt for something new (or old).   I'd been using the vintage copper for my one and only wall in the kitchen, but I need want a little taller table instead of the grainbin.  So......

....I found this one at a local antique shop.  I just love it...it's tall enough and the perfect length...not thrilled with the color but that's why they have paint...it's a different style buffet than I've ever seen before.

It's a little pricey...at $249.00, I just think it's a bit much.  What do you think?  I know I could sell my grain bin (which I love, but would have no space for it).  I love the spindle legs and the drawers are large dovetail drawers and very sturdy.  It believe it's made of maple, which matches nothing my whole house...but I think it would be perfect painted a soft white, changing the knobs,  and leaving the wood top, but just darkening a bit with stain....like I said...decisions....

While at the mall....I had my eye out for a piece of vintage art to hang over my stove..I'm sick of cute signs, chicken pictures, etc.  If only I could find something in a nice tarnished gold frame....and then there is was.  It is a painted slate piece, done in the late 50' or early 60's, by Artini Art Works.  I guess this company was know for their painted slate and apparently was fairly popular back then.  I'd never heard of the company so I Googled them.  Not valuable in the least, but very unique. The painting is done in all black, gray, and white.

With so many shows being cancelled this year, it's getting hard to find good pieces.  My basement is ready to explode with primitive pieces...just waiting for the shows to reopen.  I haven't bought anything to sell...it's just stuff that I no longer want to use.  I've sold a few pieces on FB, but packaging them up and going to the post office is kind of a pain...so I'll just wait....

I hope you all have a pleasant week.  It's still hot as you know what up here and no rain for days & I hate to see my water bill!!!!  Take care and mask up!

  1. I happen to like the buffet as-is. I would not change it at all. Nothing in my house matches but I am good with that.
I never heard of Artini Art Works, either.

    1. I like it as-is too...but unfortunately, the maple wouldn't go in my kitchen It's in great condition, but would stick out like a sore thumb.

  2. I don't match either. I would leave it as is and it isn't too pricy!

    1. I would love to leave it but I don't have any maple in my kitchen. I might have to go back and get it today!!

  3. I have a similar piece to yours and the colour grew on me. You can’t go to a furniture store and buy a crappy pressed wood piece like that for under $400 so it’s a good deal. Although I won’t tell you what I paid for mine at a yard sale 😬

  5. I think that's a good price for such a nice piece. REALLY nice piece! I would not paint it until you live with it for a while, it looks great as is.

    1. Thanks Marly...I probably wouldn't paint it right away or maybe not at all....just waiting for a sale at that shop next week.(20% off). The wood is really pretty, so painting it would be a crime

  6. Dont ask me to paint something. I cringe when someone takes an old perfect piece and paints it, so I'm not the one to ask. Great piece though as is the picture. Janice

    1. I'm usually not one to paint pieces either, so I might just get it and put it in my foyer

  8. Lovely buffet, and I love the wood. It doesn’t have to match.
