First, I would like to share a couple of designs I finished this week...the first is called "Snowman Trio" by Little House Needleworks. I used a finish, inspired by Priscilla Blain....using sticky board to mount my cross stitch, and then backing it with a homespun covered board and mounting it onto a painted white wood plaque. Then I added some bows and embellishments...
My second finish is a design from Shelley Lauper Auen, of Primitive Stitchin'..I mounted it onto a white wooden snowflake from Michaels and then added a bow and some winter pics...it's hanging on my shabby kitchen cabinet...not prim, but I thought they were cute!
I'll have three more finished cross stitched pieces to share...I just have put the finishing touches on them yet...I've been a stitching like a madwomen!

Now...onto the grand tour.....first up is my living room. That is my antique feather tree in the window with vintage and antique glass ornaments with some of my vintage santa collection...
The little calico bear sitting on the trunk, was one my grandma made me a long time ago...I believe it was my children, when they were young, that plucked his eyes out and tried to peel the felt off of his little feet....I bring this up to them every year at Christmas...emotional blackmail.....
Below, is a walking stick that my late father-in-law used for years...
The center piece is a collection of my "Dollar Store Santa's" that I used to purchase from a dollar store not far from my home....back in the 70's and early 80's....it was not a Dollar Tree...just an independent dollar store...every year they would come out with three or four new ones...being a young, stay-at-home mom of four (at the time), I thought I had died and went to heaven when I was able to afford these Santa's...
After I said I wasn't going to buy another single piece of antique furniture....up pops this watchmaker's worktable at a local antique shop....
Here's Charley...who tries to fend off one grandchild after the other when they come for a visit....
I stitched this little Christmas poem almost 40 years ago...
My early corner cupboard in my entryway...
...along with my drysink, another feather tree (not an antique one) & one of my favorite Arnett Santa's..

Well....that's my living room....
Now my kitchen...nothing fancy...but it's easy...
Well...that's it for now....I'll post other rooms of my home later this week. My house is nothing fancy or primitive...but it's very easy, and somewhat organized (except for the Christmas stuff). I wanted to go a little brighter this year instead of prim...just my mood and my age, I guess. So....I hoped you enjoyed the little tour, and I"ll be back later this week with the rest...Have a great week!

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your Christmas home!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bobbie! Very much enjoyed the tour. Absolute favorite display is the dry sink. How can you go wrong with a backdrop like that!! Nice collection of standing Santas.
ReplyDeleteHi Bobbie, I have a Santa on a Sheep that I bought over 20 years ago that looks very much like yours, but I have no idea who the maker was. Is there any marking on the Arnett made items that identifies them? Thanks, Love your home and all of your decorations! Karin
ReplyDeleteHi Bobbie,
