AND FINALLY....SNOW

Yay!!  I was so happy to see a good amount of snow falling yesterday...what would a winter be in Michigan without some accumulation of snow?  I think we got around 5-6 inches.  I love looking out my windows, especially at night when the whiteness of the snow brightens even the darkest corners of my yard...

Last evening we hosted 12 of our neighbors...this is a monthly get together we have been doing since September.  Every month, we go to a different house...it has been so much fun!  I feel like I'm living in the 50's and 60's, when this was a common thing...a tradition that seems to have gotten lost in present times....

I have been busy sprucing up the house..after Christmas it takes on a dull attitude..empty and kind of cold.  I kept a winter theme, but even that has gotten to be a bit boring...so, off to the paint store and Hobby Lobby!

A little stone fruit in an old wooden bowl..the sewing pocket hanging on the door was a class I took of Rebekah L Smith back in the summer.

Ok...and this is my Hobby Lobby and Kirkland's wall...mixed in with some antique samplers (Alexa totally photo bombed this pic).

How about this contemporary glass lamp?  Mixed it up with some very early leather books on an early 1800's writing desk and two of my samplers...I'm really loving the look...an idea from Rebekah L. Smith's blog post this week...if you haven't read her blog yet...you really should...she has some beautiful
posts and some beautiful wool applique designs as well....I'll put the link on my sidebar...

Then....the painting.....my old stepback cupboard that had been painted at least three times..this time I went with a neutral color and I love it!  The color is from Sherwin Williams and it's called "Perfect Greige"..meaning a cross between grey and beige...We're going to painting the living room a creamy white this spring, so I think the color will stand out a bit more...

Well...that's it for now.  I hope you all have a great week...if it's snowy and cold in your neck of the woods, keep warm and safe!!

  2. You've been busy! I noticed the sewing pocket and stone fruit before you even mentioned it! I LOVE stone fruit. Your pocket looks great.
Our official snow total was 7". The brutal cold and wind is what's the killer. Poor puppies are not happy.
A monthly neighborhood get together. What fun!
    See you soon :)

  4. Really great displays and pieces. I will check her blog, thought I subscribed but as usual, I must have done something wrong. I know all the SW BM and Behr colors so I am familiar with your choice, it is NICE.
