Now I didn't get through reading her entire book, and I've had it for a year or two....because some of her organization tools, are a bit extreme for me...but the Netflix show is pretty good and she is so sweet & is very respectful to the families she helps....Most of her clients are just normal people who collect too much stuff, and can't seem to get rid of it...I fall into that catagory. I'm pretty organized with my upstairs...it's the basement that makes me want to scream!! It depresses me to even go down there..I'm not one to hold on to things that would be considered "sentimental", I'm just a bit lazy when it comes to the basement! Oh...well...it's a new year & maybe I'll get on with it.
Kelley Belfast, created a really cool guide to "no spending" on craft items..so I've done the same thing. I added up my spending online, at the stores, at shows, and can't believe the amount of money that just goes flying out the window. Besides, I have enough craft stuff to last me three lifetimes!!! So far I've made it almost a week with NO spending!
These two little cuties were able to spend some time together over the Christmas week....It was so much fun having the two of them together!
I decided to keep a little winter decor up...the house looks so bare after all is put away...the mantel is still bare....but easier to clean! Have a terrific day..I'm off to my friend's house this morning to do some hooking!!

Me and no spending did not work. I ordered 2 patterns from Cammie Bruce and a mohair bear kit from Lori Ann. Not like I sew...but it was 40% off. Just shoot me...lol!
ReplyDeleteMy decorations are still not all down and the house is a train wreck.
Look at the bright side. You just have a basement. I have that and a walk up attic. Both a blessing and a curse.
See you soon!!!
That's hilarious, Lauren!! We cleaned out our attic three years ago...rented a huge dumpster and away it all went!! Anxious to see your bear...I love the snowman you did at Deb's!!
DeleteMy meager Christmas decorations will be up until the end of January. It was Christmas Eve before most of them went up, and it was my husband who decorated. Poor dear. He must have seen my December Mojo on a missing poster and had pity. For the first time in 23 years of marriage I realized the importance of Christmas decorations to him, and which ones he really liked. His choices made my heart smile. Typically I do the decorations and he and our son deck the tree. Regardless, the joy of our Christmas was as warm as usual. Have a wonderful New Year. Judy
ReplyDeleteMy husband always claims that I don't decorate like I used too....but I think I have more than enough! And he doesn't help..LOL!! Glad you had a nice Christmas and have a wonderful New Year as well!
DeleteI took two tubs of christmas stuff to the goodwill before christmas. and i've also decide to stitch and knit from stash and to finish wips.LOL!!
ReplyDeleteDenise...I had two tubs ready to go to the Salvation Army then I got the brainy idea to "sell" things on Ebay...which never materialized..now they are in the back of my car...goodness only knows when I'll actually take them! Im stitching and hooking from stash as well...It's ridiculous how much stuff I have!! Have a great evening!
ReplyDeleteLove your Pineberry stitchery. Looks awesome with your Arnett Santa. I need to clean..purge the attic. I have so much stuff up there. I kept some of my trees up and left just the lights for a Winter look. Janice
ReplyDeleteI put that show on my watch list, I need help, lol. My basement is the same, I am doing a bit at a time, but I always end up throwing something out and regretting it, so for now it is the junk and trying to organize, but all the clutter is making me nuts. Looks like you had a nice Christmas, I am still working on taking that down.

That's the exact book that got me started on my "clean out". What you mentioned about your basement being "depressing"....well...that's a strong incentive to let stuff go! As has been said before "Keep only what makes you happy". Actually...clearing out is A LOT easier than not spending...lol!
ReplyDeleteI love your greenery, lights, ribbon, log on a sled(??) in front of your fireplace. Simple elegance! Wishing you a new year filled with many smiles and much happiness!
ReplyDeleteI read about a way to clean out by noting every single thing that goes out, even a saved page from magazine. It was a New Age thing and you were supposed to get rid of so many things per day for so many days and then get showered with blessings from heaven, but if you missed even a day, you had to start over. I decided Since I'm not New Age I would do it my way. I just keep a list and mark a number on if for: the one old thing that left, the 20 things that went to St. Vincent's, etc (I don't note where they went, just the number). I have found this little distraction to be of tremendous help! When I think I've made no progress I can look at the list and see that I've gotten rid of - its over 600 items now. Even my doctor loved the idea. Sort of like getting gold stars on your chart as a kid.
