My first purchase at the show was this large 1823 sampler stitched in the most beautiful blues greens and golds. It is so vibrant and in good condition...I wasn't thrilled with the frame, but for now I'll keep it as is.
The oval shaped basket, was also purchased at this show.
The smaller sampler was purchased about four years ago. It's date 1780.
I also purchased a sweet old red paint, drop leaf table with a drawer from around the mid 1800's....but I didn't take a picture of it yet..but you can see it in a following picture shoved in the back of my car.
Off to Missouri we went after the show. We stayed at a resort (which was much to be desired :-( )but...right around the corner was Cecilia's Samplers. What a wonderful shop it was! The women were so sweet...I went four days straight...and of course, finding more things to buy...
I love these little sleds they had stitched up, so I decided to purchase 13 of them....yes....13...so I could stitch the initial of each of my grandchildren. They said I could stitch two to three a night...so we'll see!
This is some of my other haul from the shop....if you are ever in the area...this is a must stop!
So many antique malls on I-44 heading home...these are two of my favorites: Route 66 right off of the highway....see that mustard cupboard in the corner? I wanted to rent a Uhaul to bring it home....
And then....there was this.......oh...my heart.....but always with a question...."where would you put it".....
This antique mall called "Half-Crocked" was another fabulous shop filled with prims!
I bought a few things from Half-Crocked...but the item that really spoke to me...begging me to take it home...was this early flax wheel...It's small and is missing parts, but I love that it is slightly charred on one side....leaves me to think that the gal who was spinning was probably a little too close to the fireplace on a cold blustery night...
And my husband is a saint....he takes me whereever I want to go & never complains about my craziness!!! Except...he would not let me rent that dang U-Haul!
Dave is an angel and looks great holding your sign! Great finds. What cities in MO were you at? Janice
ReplyDeleteHi Jan! We went to Branson....not impressed, but the antique shops coming home were great!
DeleteYou got some wonderful treasures. That sampler is amazing and so different not having an alphabet.
ReplyDeleteSee you in a few days :)
I know....That's one reason I really loved the sampler...full of motifs! See you on Thursday!
DeleteOh how fun. Those little sleds are adorable! What a fun time. Bet you were exhausted upon your return home. But so many wonderful things to see. I had not yet seen that Blackbird Design book - will be looking it up 😉
ReplyDeleteThank you, the Blackbird Design book is from a few years ago. It is still available on 123 Stitch. I can't wait to start stitching on the sleds~~~ .

Bobbie sounds like a dream trip! Those sleds are adorable and your grandkids will cherish them, made by their grandma!
ReplyDeleteDid you end up stopping in Cambridge City?
Earlene
Hi Bobbie,
ReplyDeleteA bit late in visiting but still wanted to comment on how much I love your new pieces!! You really found some wonderful places to stop and I don't blame you one bit on wanting to rent a U Haul to bring more things home!! Those two cupboards were WONDERFUL!!! Love your red table and all those baskets, too, plus the sampler is gorgeous!! Glad you had a good time and the picture of your hubby is priceless!!
Enjoy your new treasures!
Heart Hugs~
