CHOOSING FRAMES

I've only had one of my samplers, that I stitched, professionally framed.  That sampler was one I stitched for my mom a couple of years ago.  I hate framing!!!  So, this time, I decided to bite the bullet and have four of my samplers frames.  I knew it would be a costly endeavor (very costly), but with all the work you put into stitching, I think it's worth it to have a nice frame.

This is the sampler I stitched for my mom for Mother's Day a few years ago.  It was framed at Hobby Lobby, and with the 40% off coupon, it was still well over $100.  But it was a gift and I wanted it to be something one of my kids would want....It has my mom, mine, my brothers, and all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren's initials in them...(my brothers have no children).

This is the sampler I stitched for my daughter.  I'm having it framed at Total Framing in Virginia.  They were so nice to send me five differenct frame choices.  This is the one I chose.

My second sampler, at Total Framing, is Jane Stanwix.  This one is a bit larger so I picked out this burl wood frame.  It'll be a few weeks before they are ready to be shipped back, but I'm so excited!

Three little pinkeeps I've stitched.  All three are designs from eSubRosa.  She is on etsy and has beautiful designs...instant downloads as well!  I had to resort to using a hoop with this one, because the linen (mystery linen) was so soft, I kept making counting errors...

It's been pretty nice for the past two days here in Michigan.  The beginning of the week was filled with torrential downpours and so much flooding in the middle of the state.  I've been doing some yardwork....but I'd rather be stitching!  Have a great weekend and a fun & safe Memorial Day!!

  4. Samplers are gorgeous!Love your blogs. The text is hard to read against the background. Maybe make the text white or change the background colour?

  5. Your frame choices are spot on. Several stitchers recommend mailing work for framing, never have, but may look into it. My locals are several hundred for one piece with ME mounting it. We do have a Michael's now, may check them too.

  9. Love the frame moldings you picked for your sampler pieces. I have used both of those moldings in the past. You will be very happy with your Total Framing experience. They are incredible to work with.
