So excited!! We are finally going to start stitching our Coming To America samplers, commemorating the 400th year anniversary of the Mayflower. I love this sampler and hope to have it finished within the 66 days of the journey of these brave men and women.
This is the kit I purchased from Kitten Stitcher, Theresa Vinette. The linen, over-dyed floss, pattern, history, and a sweet little needle minder plus a 2 inch square gauge. A nice piece of fabric copied from William Bradford's journal also included.
I think some of the needlework shops ordered extra's in case anyone is interested.
The names Brenda designed on the sampler, are the women who survived that long and treacherous journey. Most of the families did not survive that first year ...The first Thanksgiving was a very meager one at best...
So...I haven't stitched most of the summer...been waiting for the Women of the Mayflower to begin!! But...I have been crocheting. My daughter's sister-in-law, is expecting her first baby so she asked if I could crochet a blanket for baby boy. It was a nice diversion! A little piquet type edging...a first for me!
A little more fall decorating...I found this cute little sign at Kirkland's...I thought it was on sale...but of course...this was the ONLY sign that was NOT on sale...I bought it anyway...
And then my little tablescape...I swear...I think I change it out everyother day!
It certainly hasn't been fall like weather..but then I have to remind myself that it's just the start of September ...cooler weather will be coming soon enough!
I hope you all have a nice week/weekend! It's the time of year when I would normally be getting ready for the antique show held in Holly...but nothing this year..hopefully next March!!
Have fun stitching That Sampler!
ReplyDeletePretty blanket for a boy.
All of the flea markets we go to in September have been cancelled.
Bummer.
